Tori and Willem’s Brisbane Wedding and Maroochy Bushland Reserve Bridal Shoot

Tori and Willem chose a beautiful day in late May to tie the knot, surrounded by friends and family. They travelled all the way from Bundaberg in North Queensland to be married in the Brisbane LDS Temple at Kangaroo Point. Why, you ask? Why not get married closer to Bundaberg? The quick answer is that the Temple is a sacred place to them, and as such, worth every effort and sacrifice to be married there. There’s only one LDS Temple in Queensland. And it’s in Brisbane. Travelling is a bit of an adventure – how great to start married life on an adventure!

What struck me the most about Tori and Willem is how real they are. How down to earth and “happy to go with the flow” they are really made the photo taking very easy. Some poses I had them make were a little uncomfortable, but they grinned and nodded… ok, laughed, and did it anyway! We caught some beautiful shots!

Bride’s hair: the bride’s amazing sister

Bride’s make-up: one of her best friend’s mothers.

Flowers: Bella Flora in Sippy Downs. Tori said they provided the best price and were able to provide bouquets that matched pictures we sent. Check them out here: www.bellaflora.com.au

Bride’s and Bridesmaids dresses: Handmade by the bride’s mother! I’m in awe of this great feat. They were so perfectly made, mum should probably open a store.

The Groom’s and Best men suits: Suits Direct in Mooloolabah.  www.suitsdirect.wordpress.com

Reception DJ: Marty Nelson from Nelson Entertainment. https://m.facebook.com/nelsonent/

Read on below to see Willem’s proposal to the lovely Tori. There are so many awesome Engagement proposals and this one is so creative and heart-warming.

Bride Name: Tori

Groom Name: Willem

The big proposal?:

We had already agreed to get married and we were just waiting for the ring to get here. Tori was anticipating the proposal for a few days. In the evening when she was wasn’t expecting it, Willem proposed at her grandparents house in Tagalog – her mission language….. She responded naturally in Tagalog and then realised he didn’t know what she was saying! It was yes.

What inspired your wedding venue décor? Did you have a theme in mind?:

The theme was simple and fun.

What colours did you choose and how did you decide?:

Colours: wine red (bridesmaids) and navy blue. They looked nice together and the groom helped pick out the colour.

Can you share a fun or memorable moment you had together during your Wedding Day?:

We had a blast the entire reception, talking and dancing.

How was your experience with your photographer?:

Great! She knew what she was doing, incorporated ideas from our bridal party and made us look and feel amazing on our day…. And most importantly, she understood when our faces were hurting from smiling and helped with that.

What was the biggest challenge you faced in planning your wedding?:

Besides the bride studying at university with up coming exams- finding cheap but great quality flowers.

One piece of advice you would give to other couples for their wedding?:

Don’t stress too much. Do what will make you happy instead of what makes family or guests happy, because it’s YOUR day. HAVE FUN and enjoy the day.
